Part 1 of 4:

Talking for Free

   Download and install Google Hangouts and the Hangouts Dialer. You can use Google Hangouts and the Hangouts Dialer app to make free calls to any number in the US and Canada whenever you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. If you have a Google Voice number, you can use Hangouts to receive calls for free as well. You will need both Hangouts and the Hangouts Dialer app in order to make calls for free. You can download both apps for free from the Google Play Store.^[1]
   

   • These apps will use the same Google account you already have associated with your Android device.
   • If you're using an iPhone, you'll need to log in with a free Google account. There is no Hangouts Dialer app on the iPhone. All calls are made through the Hangouts app.

   Sign up for a Google Voice number (optional). A Google Voice number will allow you to display the number as your outbound caller ID.
